My home town's Summer Festival

I would like to write about my hometown’s summer festival. I live in Honjyo-Kodama in Saitama. Our town hold the Festival once a year. It’s the annual festival at the Hachiman Shrine. There are many street stalls and people buy many foods, like a Fried noodls with sause(焼きそば‐Yakisoba), a Flavored shaved ice(かき氷-Kakigoori), and a crepe. Also people enjoy goldfish scooping, shooting game and a raffle.
I carry portable shrine (神輿‐mikoshi)along a street with my father, friends, and neighbors.

This is a portable shrine, 神輿

It's very very heavy, so we lift up with all members of Mishima Atagokai(三島愛宕会)

‐喧嘩神輿‐

This picture is fighting with other team. Of course, it's just performance.
Recently this performance is prohibited at other festivals. Because it's very dangerous, but that's the very reason why visitors enjoy this festival. I think it's very cool performance!

To carry portable shrine is very hard, but it's good experience for me.

Kawagoe Suijyo Park

I went to Kawagoe Suijyo Park on April 22nd with my friends. This picture is cherry blossom. It's kind of a double- flowered cherry(八重桜). There are many cherry blossoms and you can see other beautiful flowers, like tulips, pansys, and dandelions. I think it's good OHANAMI place in Kawagoe.

There is a big lake in the center of this park. This park has some AHIRU-SAN boats. There are many pretty ducks and carps, so we can buy some feed for ducks and carps and we can feed the animal.

The summer season, we can swim in the pool.

It's good OSANNPO place!  :)

TIU : Kawagoe Guide Volunteer Project

TIU has a Kawagoe guide volunteer program for TIU students and Kawagoe city. Some School of language communication students study this project. This project is improving our English ability and communication ability at KOEDO KAWAGOE. Also, Kawagoe city has a goal of increasing Kawagoe tourists.

First, we study about Kawagoe city’s map, history, summer and autumn festivals, and some popular spots. Also we introduce about Kawagoe in English to visitors from overseas. This project’s good points are we can talk to many people who come from America, China, Korea, Indonesia, France..etc. Sometimes we guide to Japanese sightseer who is from other prefecture, especially when held a festival.

This picture is Kawagoe autumn festival. TIU students inform about all festival cars to visitors using a microphone.
If you interested in this project or have a chance, you should try KGVP at TIU after you comeback to Japan.
